The 2016 Country Music Awards honored country music artists for musical performances and other career achievements during the 2016 calendar year.
Although Lee Kernaghan was nominated for eight Golden Guitars and won 3, it was Troy Cassar-Daley’s night as the big winner. A special award for Producer of the Year was awarded to Troy Cassar-Daley along with 5 more Golden Guitars: Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Heritage Song of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Album of the Year.
Graeme Connors was the inductee to the Australasian Country Music Roll of Renown. Doug Gallacher was presented with a special Musician of the Year award.
The CMAA Awards is a highlight of the ten day Tamworth Country Music Festival. Each year about 50,000 music fans come to the Festival. The Awards is organized by the Country Music Association of Australia (CMAA).
The 75 Country Music Golden Guitar 2016 finalists were selected from over 500 nominations: industry heavy weights and the emergence of newer artists.

2016 Tamworth
Country Music Festival
The Festival will run from 15 to 24 January 2016. It’s the largest music festival in the southern hemisphere and one of the top 10 in the world.
There will be over 2,200 events and over 800 artists in the 120 venues that make up the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
The Cavalcade community parade on Saturday 23 January will attract thousands of spectators again this year. Cavalcade parade starts at 9am at the corner of Peel & Hill Streets.
The public was invited to come join the fun and see their favourite country music artists on specially decorated floats.
The trophy is 24cm high and weighs 1.5 kilograms. Over 500 Golden Guitar Awards have been given out since the beginning.
Slim Dusty won an amazing 37 Golden Guitar Awards during his career.
