The ARIA Awards are presented annually by the Australian Recording Industry Association to Australian musicians and bands to recognise artistic and technical excellence in all genres of Australian music.

For an artist to compete for an ARIA Award, they must either be an Australian citizen, or have applied for or attained permanent resident status. They also need to live in Australia for at least six months within the specified time. To be an Australian bands, at least half the members of the group must meet this requirement.
