The 1992 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXV Olympiad, was an international multi-sport event celebrated in Barcelona, Spain.

Australia sent 279 athletes (187 men and 92 women) to the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics. They competed in 153 events in 25 Olympic sports. Australian athletes have competed in all of the Summer Olympic Games since the games started.

Kathy Watt in Cycling and Kieren Perkins in swimming each won a gold and a silver medal. Daniela Costian won a bronze medal in Women’s Discus Throw. Australia won a silver medal in Hockey.

Brooke Gysen was the youngest athlete for Australia (14 years 313 days) and Pat Murray the oldest (47 years 141 days). The Barcelona Summer Games had 9,386 participants (6,659 men and 2,721 women) from 169 countries
