The 2004 ARIA Award winners were announced on 17 October 2004. Some of the nominations have been determined by public vote and panels, while others are chosen by the ARIA Industry Members.

The 18th ARIA Awards moved the day to Sunday nights. This welcomed change saw an average of over 1.3 million people who watched the Network 10 TV broadcast. The Melbourne group Jet were the big winners of the night with 6 awards: Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Best Group, Breakthrough Artist – Album, Breakthrough Artist – Single and Best Rock Album.
