48th Annual TV Week Logie Awards

Sunday, 7 May 2006
Palladium Ballroom, Crown Towers, Melbourne, VIC

The Logie Award Winners 2006 is a list of Australian television program Logie Awards winners and nominees. The awards are presented annually by the Australian television industry, currently as the TV Week Logie Awards, to recognise excellence in many areas of television, including acting, entertainment and news categories.

Over the past 48 years, the Gold Logie winner for Most Popular Personality was selected by readers of TV Week magazine. Beginning in 2006, the winner is now selected from votes of TV Week readers and the general public. This year they could vote for their favourite via SMS and a 1-900 number.

After 10 straight nominations, John Wood (Blue Heelers) finally won a Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television.

The 2006 Logies was hosted by Ray Martin, Bert Newton, Daryl Somers, Georgie Parker and Lisa McCune. Special Guests were George Eads (CSI), Chris North (Law & Order: CI), Joan Rivers. Performers were Cirque du Soleil, Pink, Chris Lilley with Cathy Freeman, Sherbet, and David Campbell.

New award this year: Graham Kennedy Award for Most Outstanding New Talent.

NOTE: yes, we know many of the Special Guests are famous for more than what we list. Because this is a historical listing, we’ve tried to show the TV program the person was known for at the time. For example, Roger Moore was known for his TV show The Pretenders in 1972, long before he did the James Bond films.

Last column in the above charts is the television network / station.
