In 2009 it was reported that 78% of all Australian households had internet access. Access to computers increased from 44% (1998) to 72% (2009). The highest proportion of households with a broadband internet connection in 2009 was the ACT with 74% and the lowest was 54% in South Australia and 49% in Tasmania.
